As a fishing mad teenager in the mid eighties, Alex Coutts bemoaned the lack of an angling shop in Heathfield. 20 years later the situation hadn’t changed so together with his wife Sarah he decided to do something about it. July of 2007 saw them open Sussex Angling Supplies. Located on Streatfield Road, just off Heathfield High Street the shop is an Aladdin’s cave of all things fishing. Whether you’re after boilies or bite alarms, bivvys or bait boats there’s something for everyone. In addition to the carp fishing tackle that forms the backbone of the stock the sea, game, predator, match and general coarse angler is also catered for. But Sussex Angling Supplies offers much more than just items for sale. Having been fishing for over twenty five years Alex has a huge knowledge of local waters and whether you’re looking to catch your first fish or chasing an elusive specimen he is happy to give you advice on how to be successful. In addition to the multitude of tackle there is also a vast array of baits available, from the humble maggot through to the latest carp baits from companies such ; Solar, Richworth, Pelzer, Heathrow Bait Services, Sensas, DD Baits, Catcher and The Carp Company. Add that to the fact the shop is open from 7:30 am seven days a week with 8pm closing on Thursdays and Fridays, with shop front parking and you realise that Sussex Angling Supplies is much more than your average tackle shop.
