Ben's Gutters

Hi there I have decided to write a quick review on here to just praise Bens Gutters and say that they did a great job on my property's gutters. I will be using them again in the future no question.

I am really impressed with Bens Gutters.

To be honest I read some of the stuff below and have to say that my experience was great and I had no problems. They came when they said they would, they did a good job. And they were really helpful and professional.. At the end of the day they got the job DONE and I dont have any problems with my gutters any more - no more leaks/overflowing!!! So THANK YOU BENS GUTTERS!

Don't touch them! I arrange a day off work to give them access to our house. They didn't show up and didn't even call to say they weren't coming. I (stupidly) forgave them for "being stuck in traffic" when I called them and arranged for another day off work two weeks later. This time, they called to cancel at 16:50 the day before - too late for me to rearrange working - but said (without speaking to me) they would "come the next Tuesday". I cancelled them - I could buy a ladder and do it myself for less than the money and time they've wasted.

we had a leaflet from bens gutters last winter but never used the company today we received the same hand written leaflet with the same logo for window cleaning written in the same style no address just a mobile no and a and an e mail address john harrow nw london

basically all you read about these cowboys is true, they come collect the money and leave without doing anything. Shame! I wasted 70 today

Half a job done, and that was done very poorly! Black slopsspilt over front of gutters,debris splashes on windowsills and house walls and not cleaned up. Called company to complain who said they would call me back. Man who did job called back who sounded most put out that i was not happy and would not come back to clean up unless i made another appointment. Dont waste your money!!!

After critical comments from Anon, you have taken the time to reply and put your case positively, this shows that you care and you should be praised for that.
We get called for guttering cleaning but we only replace, so next time we would be happy to suggest you guys.

To Anon of 29 July: Our staff are highly trained and experienced and Ben's Gutters are the UK's biggest gutter cleaning company; we have streamlined our work methods to be highly efficient and we pass this saving directly on to the customer. To be fair, 15 minutes on the roof would suggest an operative was there for around 45-60 minutes in between set-ups, take-downs and cleanups. In any case, if you were at all unhappy with our service, all you had to do was call us and we would have sorted everything out. It's obviously in our interest to ensure that all our customers are 100% happy with the service we provide. Just to let you know, we have now received thousands of letters from happy customers thanking us for doing such a good job for them.

To Anon, Bristol: If you could be specific about a particular downpipe being blocked, we would do our best to unblock it. If, for any reason, we could not do the job, then we would let you know and adjust the price accordingly. If you had called us, we would have sorted the situation out. Ben's Gutters prices are related to the size and height of a property not for the time it takes to do a job.

To Anon (re cherry picker): Sometimes parking outside the property is an issue for the cherry picker; we do have specialist ladders operated by ropes and harnesses but it takes a two-man team to operate them and do the job. We, as a business, have to have a decent amount of work in an area to justify sending our guys out so it's viable for us. If the job is difficult to do or if it's not something we can do straight away, we always make sure we call the customer to explain why and try to rebook them in for a future date. It would be very strange if we didn't call you. Please contact us or supply us with your details so we can sort this out. Being Anon makes it impossible for us to rectify the situation! We obviously want you to be a satisfied customer.

To annabel oak: As I previously said to To A Fool & His Money, if we had heard from you, we would have put everything right. You give no contact details so we cannot contact and you give us no details as to who, where or when so we cannot trace the job. Ben's Gutters are the biggest and most successful gutter cleaning company in the UK, and unfortunately, some people aren't totally happy about that. So, forgive me for being suspicious, but I couldn't help noticing that the very first sentence of your review ("had what looks like a handwritte note through the door") is very similar to A Fool & His Money's "I received the hand written note through my door..." You also talk about our leafleting practices as if you know all about them which is an awful lot to have gleaned from simply having received 1 leaflet though your door! Anyway, if this is a genuine review, then we apologise unreservedly. Please call us asap.

Re lewisbartlett: We paid this supplier 3 weeks after receiving their invoice which is within the parameters of normal business practice, so I fail to see what the problem is here.

To A Fool & His Money: There was no need for you to call another company out. If you had called us we would have returned and if it we had found that we had not cleaned the gutter as promised, we would not have charged you. Gutter alignment is often the cause of gutters overflowing, especially in heavy downfalls. We would never charge for a job not properly done and if there is any evidence of this we will re-do the job or give a refund. You give no details of who, where or when so it's impossible for us to check up on this job. Please supply this info and/or get in touch and we will make sure you are happy. Just to let you know, we have thousands of letters from happy customers thanking us for the amazing job we do.

I received the hand written note through my door and phoned immediately as my gutters were over flowing badly. Booked appointment, but I could not be there on the day, they said no problem, we'll clean your gutters and put the invoice through your door. I paid £70 and assumend the work had been done, but it had not rained since so I was unable to be sure. During the heavy rain of last week I saw that the gutters were overflowing as badly as before. Called out another company who came and said the gutters were completely full with mud and had obviously not been touched. I was ripped off by Ben's Gutters big time. Had to pay another £100 to this guy to do the work. Ben's Gutters are total cowboys.. DON'T USE THEM.

I recently did a leaflet distribution job for these guys last month in the Cuckfield, UK area. I completed the job in only a week and was very proud with the amount of hard work we got done for this company. One month on, and after literally tonnes of emails I've sent their way, they haven't ever gotten back to me regarding paying me for the job I done for them. And reading up on this company, I now know that I done a horrible thing trusting these people and doing a job for them. I am going to take action against them and I will be getting my payment, fair people like me and others here who have been had do not deserve this injustice.

Recieved an ingenious leaflet through the door which grabbed my attention. I gave them a call and recieved a quote over the phone by a young lady. We then decided to book the work for the following week and they removed the unsightly clump of grass that was growing in the gutter ! very good service, fast and efficient. Which is more than I can say about alot of tradesman these days !

Booked an appointment a week in advance and was told they'd bring a cherry picker as it is a 4 storey house, they phoned to confirm the day before. I waited the whole afternoon. No one turned up and noone phoned. Very frustrating. I phoned them the next day and was told they had driven past and seen that they needed longer ladders and they would contact me in a few weeks.
Fair enough except that they had originally told me they'd use a cherry picker and they no one bothered to call and explain. Perhaps i can improve this review if they do ever make it with long ladders

I live in a 4 storey town house in London. Our gutters were blocked and they were overflowing causing dampness to the front bedroom. I phoned a number of companies one of which explained we would need scaffolding and replacement gutters costing £1000's. We received a leaflet from Ben's gutters and they came on a Saturday with a large van with a crane on the back and the gentleman simply parked it on the street extended the crane up to the gutter and used a long rod with a brush and his hands to remove all the debris which must have been gathering for some 20 years. The whole service probably took about 40 mins, but the gutters do not overflow anymore, so problem solved. The cost of this service was £295, 1/10th of one quote I was given. The gentleman said my gutters were fine. I was pleased with the result as the problem was resolved and I don't have my attention on it anymore.

Like the previous chap, we had Bens Gutters to check our detached house in Bristol. I got the number from a flyer that had been posted tghrough my daughter's door and was given a quote of £85.
The chap duly arrived on the agreed time/date, but like the last chap. he was there precisel 25-minutes from start to finish and we also have 3 long runs, 2 short runs and a flat roofed extension but he appeared to move his ladder just once for each side and used no rods or tools whatsoever - and wouldn't you know it - today its raining and our front downpipe is overflowing like mad!!!
Would suggest that no one uses this firm!

The job would have been refunded or redone in accordance with our customer service policy - if we had received a call, letting us know the situation. We are obviously very interested in making sure that all our customers are totally happy with our service.

The main feeling I have after using this company is that I have been done! I had a flyer through my door and called for a quote. I was given a quote of £75 for cleaning gutters & down pipes for my detached house, we booked a date. I then had two sales calls from people to give me a quote. I can understand one mistake but two?
On the day the chap turned up and claimed an incorrect quote had been given and it would cost £100. I was annoyed and agreed to split the difference and pay £87'50. He then spent no more than 15 minutes on my roof cleaning the gutters & was gone! (my house is split level and has four sets of gutters plus a single story extension at the back.)
I do not feel I received either good value or good service and would definitely not recommend them to anyone else.
