This cottage with its large garden is situated on the outskirts of Miers .  It sleeps 4. 

Accommodation.  First floor, fully equipped kitchen/dining room,  main bedroom with double bed,  bathroom with shower.  Second floor,  a bedroom with twin beds and a sitting area with TV and small library.  Steps from the kitchen lead down through the cave to the garden.  Laundry facilities and linen provided. Pets by arrangement

The joy of this cottage is that it is so well placed for exploring the surrounding area with its spectacular scenery.

For walkers there are a network of paths extending in all directions over the open but rugged limestone plateau known as  the Causse de Gramat.  The area is also popular with cyclists who have many routes to explore and a variety of unfolding scenery to enjoy. 

In places the rolling surface of the plateau is broken with dramatic effect.   The rock face town of Rocamadour; the chasm at Gouffre de Padirac  leading to over 2 km of caves, and  the Dordogne valley with its powerful river and constantly changing vistas are all remarkable examples.  They can all can be reached by car  from Miers inside half an hour.

Distributed through this fascinating area, and also easily reached by car, are the towns.  From Beaulieu and Bretanoux in the east to Sarlat in the west ; from Brive le Gaillard and Martel in the north to Figeac in the south are many very interesting towns whose individual histories are reflected in the character of their buildings and in their unique medieval design.  All these towns retain aspects of a cultural, spiritual  and commercial tradition which they manage to blend with  modern economy and with modern style. Every town has a weekly market which enables local producers to sell their wares alongside professional traders and there are fairs on a regular basis selling household goods, clothing and exotic items.  Market day is when the towns truly come alive.

The area is rich in places of interest to visit.  In addition to those already mentioned there are, for those interested in prehistory, the wall paintings in the caves at Lascaux and Peche Merle.  There is even one small prehistoric site just outside Miers.  Young people will probably be more interested in such attractions as the Parc Animalier, the Parc Malawi, the Foret de Singe, the Flight of Eagles at Rocamadour or the two museums. Insectopia and Reptiland.  They may also want to spend time canoeing down the Dordogne or swimming in the open air pool 3 miles away at Padirac which has extensive picnicing facilities and a small cafe.   There's lots to do !

BY ROAD    Miers is about 400 miles from Caen.  Mostly auto route it takes about 30 minutes from Exit 54 on the A20 to reach Miers

BY AIR.    There are Easyjet flights to Toulouse, Ryanair flights to Rodez, and both Easyjet and Ryanair flights to Limoges. Both of these carriers offer low cost deals on travel.  At each airport there are car hire facilities.  Miers is about 2 hours drive.

BY RAIL    From the UK, changing in Paris and Brive le Gaillarde to the local station at Rocamadour.  A day's journey from London.
