Got a job or course interview coming up? Want to improve your interview skills to dramatically boost your chances of success?
Research shows that 85% of interview candidates lose the job within the first 5 minutes of the interview through a lack of interview skills.
Congratulations you've got through the initial selection process for your ideal job/course, and have been called for an interview
If you weren't suitable for the course or job, on paper at least, you wouldn't have been offered an interview. You may have been short-listed from dozens of applicants. You're doing very well to have got this far!
Unfortunately the interview stage is where most people end any sort of preparation and assume that “there’s nothing I can do except turn up” and it will "just go fine".
But you couldn't be making a bigger mistake. Getting an interview is the start.
Being able to get the interviewer to know you are right for the job/course is something else!
You might already believe that you are the best person for the job and have all the right expertise but will you be able to convince your interviewer? If not, then you might well lose out to your competition
Most first interviews involve meeting an employer and answering questions about your application form or CV. Fundamentally, the interviewer will be looking for 4 very specific things from you:
1. Do you understand the job that needs to be done.
2. Do you have the experience and the skills to succeed in the new role.
3. Will you fit in, and do the job in the way they want it to be done.
4. Do you really want the job.
Preparation is the key to success here.
You need to research everything you can about your prospective employer's business and you need to analyse the job specification and (if there is one) the person specification for the job for which you've applied.
You need to make sure that you look and behave the part during the interview, that you are able to answer the inevitable difficult questions effectively, ask the right questions yourself and follow-up after the interview in the correct way.
Why do I need Interview help?
The problem is that people don't move jobs very often, so they simply don't have much experience in being interviewed. The interview can be a daunting process. Plus, being confident about your skills to others can be one of the hardest things to do! That's why it really does pay to have a career coach who is experienced at doing these things to help you. I have years of experience of interviewing people so I know what works and doesn't work
I can help you to prepare for interviews in most industries, identifying key competencies required by the role, and how best to highlight your skills and sell yourself.
I put together mock interviews in which you will be able to practice and gain confidence for the real thing, and provide samples of common interview questions, along with some strategies for answering them.
I will help to identify areas for improvement and provide immediate feedback to improve your interview technique.
Following an initial free consultation, we can identify your requirements and deliver the right amount of preparation to ensure you walk into the interview with confidence and the best possible chance of success.

Q In what area of your life would you MOST like to make a major change?
A Coaching can help you Dream it! Plan it! Do it!
Coaching provides professional one to one support and motivation for people wishing to make changes in their lives and move forward.
It is a process where you work with an impartial person (the coach) to develop a plan for how you will go about making changes to your lifestyle.
Ø You may have a clear sense of what needs changing i.e. changing career, improving work/life balance, losing weight, improving a relationship etc. What you need is support, motivation and help with devising a plan of how you will achieve your goal.
Ø You may feel “fed up”, “disillusioned” with your life/work and want to make a change but you are not sure what to change or how. What you need is help from your coach to understand what the issues are before you put together a plan of action.
Once you have drawn up your plan for change you meet regularly with your coach at your pace to review your progress, discuss any issues and how best you can tackle them.
Coaching is not counselling it is more about you looking forward to make positive steps than reviewing your past to make sense of it all.
Life Coaching.
We will explore your situation and assess the aspects of your life you wish to improve. We will then put together an agreed action plan based on a realistic vision of how you would like your life to be. Then we will clarify stages in your plan and explore the factors which might hinder you (such as self limiting beliefs) and those which could enhance your progress (such as positive habits).
No matter what your career needs are, I am confident that I can help you. Whether you are; starting out your career, looking for a change in direction, returning to work after a break, facing/have faced redundancy and want to make the most of this opportunity to identify your career options and develop the best possible strategy for getting a new career or currently employed and looking to develop your career prospects either within the same organisation or a new one. I can help you with; making the most of your skills and experience, identifying career options, developing an effective job search, CV preparation and interview skills coaching
