Having read the comments on this site i would like to point out, that as that may have been the case the past but things are about to change.

Recently the site has been taken over by Phoenix Inn Ltd who have leased the site from Elizabeth Holdings and have big plans for it including setting up a small newsagents and general store within the existing site.

Our management team will be working closely with local residents in order to turn the business around and make it a credit to the local community.

We know this will take time and money but as a company we are prepared to put the time and effort into the business to make it work for everyone.

I believe that everyone has their own opinion. All I can say is that you dont know what happens behind the scenes and how much grief myself and my partner got for running this pub. I would like to point out that we were appointed as MANAGERS ONLY and we received NO financial backing whatsoever from the leaseholder and owner. The villagers never used their local so where were we supposed to get the money from to buy stock, food and get the heating fixed. I am not trying to make you feel sorry for us but I would just like you to know that we tried our hardest but no-one seemed to care and then we have a pompous idiot like you who knocks us down even more. Thanks to no backing from the locals and no financial backing from the owner, we have left the pub and it is currently closed and not trading. I wonder how many people will moan now they havent got anywhere to go. Well they should have thought about that when it was there. You have no idea how upsetting this is.

I visited this pub in February of this year with my wife and what a disapointment. Quite frankly this has to be right up there as one of the worst pubs in Suffolk. The carpet is filthy and smells literally of urine. there is no draught beers (reliably informed by manager because landlord elizabeth inns havn't paid beer bill. No food offering. logs being chopped on carpet by fire. axe laying on floor. NO HEATING allegedly because boiler doesnt work. Toilets a disgrace, informed by wife bins overflowing & dried blood from used tampons on bin. lighting poor and obviously no stock. half decorated beams & curtains covered in cobwebs. New Years Eve poster still on blackboard outside and its Feb 11th!!!! All I can say when asked how to improve pub.....DROP A BLOODY BOMB ON IT. Landlord/Landlady whoever you are, you should be ashamed of yourself.
