When you claim your listing you'll get an instant email update every time someone reviews your business or updates your listing. That's a great opportunity to thank them for positive reviews and spread word of mouth, hear and react quickly to any negative reviews to keep your customers happy, and keep an eye out for errors or omissions. If you own multiple businesses you can claim and promote them all.

When you promote your listings you start to make them work for you.

Add a detailed description all about your business, and go back and change it at any time as often as you wish. Use it to say what makes you different, about your exceptional customer service, your opening times, in fact anything you want people to know.

Add photos and videos to really show people what your business is all about - you can also go back and change them at any time as often as you wish. How about real photos of your work, your place of business, or your friendly team? If a picture speaks a thousand words a video speaks a volume - what about a video customer testimonial, and perhaps a simple from-the-heart welcome message from you.

Add a box-out or a highlighting to your listing to make it stand out in search results, and to go the whole hog raise your listing up results with search priority.

• Confirm your authority to claim it
• Add any optional promotions (see about promotions below)
• Pay by Paypal or with a credit card instantly and online
• You'll be returned to the Brownbook website, and you'll get an email receipt from us and from Paypal

You can see the businesses you've claimed in you're 'My Account' page, and if you bought promotions you can set them up from there too.

You can promote any of your claimed businesses when you claim them or at any time after. To promote a business when you claim it just select from the optional promotions when prompted. To promote a previously claimed business go to your 'My Account' page, and look at your 'Claimed Businesses'. Select 'View/Edit' promotions and select those you want from the choices available.

Don't forget you add additional promotions to claimed businesses at any time, and they last for the duration of your claim.

Some promotions require you to add additional information, for example when you want to add a detailed description about your business or when you add photos or videos. To add or edit your text, photos or videos once you've bought the promotions go to your 'My Account' page, and look at your 'Claimed Businesses'. Select 'View/Edit' promotions and you'll see the promotions you've bought under 'Existing Promotions'. Just click 'Configure' and follow the instructions.
